Oh, what a wonderful day I’ve just had! I managed to completed the Ladies Driving Challenge (without crashing anything), and I raised £140 for CHSS.
I would like to say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to the ladies from my knitting group (Kilmarnock Knitters) and Ravelry friends who sponsored me to do this event.
After kitting us out in our lovely red overalls and giving us our score cards, we headed out to take part in the first challenge. (We were given a score out of 100 for each of the driving challenges – we only found out about this on arrival – AAAHHH!)
First up was the double decker bus.
I was well chuffed when the instructor gave me a score of 100!
Next up was the arctic lorry! I wasn’t looking forward to this one!
Oh, but it was a piece of cake. And anyone who’s heading to Tesco for their shopping can rest assured that I didn’t crash the truck! Tesco will still be well stocked this week! I got a score of 99 for this challenge.
And then we cycled on the Cozy Bike. A bike made for six, but only one person can steer. It’s the strangest feeling when you’re sitting on this backwards, and then the driver turns around a corner. Your stomach lurches in the opposite direction to what you’re expecting.
We only scored 92 points each for this challenge.
And then we were off to drive the fire engines, with lights and sirens blaring too!
I got a score of 99 for driving the fire engine, and with a fire man by my side distracting me too!
Then the police cars, and I got to drive the Smart Car.
I must’ve been really good at this challenge because I scored 120. Or maybe that was just their way of apologising for that speeding ticket they gave me a couple of months ago.
And finally, we had to dig a hole with a JCB – my favourite challenge!
I was over the moon that I scored the full 100 points again!
And this my team and our instructor:
Me with my score card (very relived that it’s all over and I’m still in one piece).
And my score card. 610 out of 600 – now that’s a good score! lol
